There are hundreds of packing tips written by travelers online, and I’m sure you’ve read most and found them useful. In this post, however, I will share some of my own travel packing tips that I thought others may not have tried yet.

If you’re like me who is very particular when it comes to making sure my clothes won’t get too messy, damaged or stained by leaks, these smart packing tips may just be the right ones for you.

1. Use fresh scented trash bag for your dirty clothes.

There will be times when you don’t really have the time to do your laundry while staying in a hotel, unless of course you’re renting a place via Airbnb with an access to a washer and dryer. Pack a fresh scented trash bag for your dirty clothes. This will allow you to separate the dirty ones from the remaining unused clothes left in your luggage. Even if you’d end up washing your unused clothes later back home, it just makes it all less messy and less smelly altogether.

2. Avoid packing large size toiletries.

Go for travel size toiletries, or better yet, if you know you’re going to stay at a luxury hotel, I would recommend just using their shampoos, soaps, conditioners and body lotions – no need to bring your own! As far as perfumes go, don’t bring a huge bottle. What I’ve been bringing to my travels are sample sized perfumes that I have collected from Sephora for being a VIB (very important beauty) member. 3. Turn your “most important” clothes inside out.

This is most useful when you're traveling to attend special events such as wedding. I’m always paranoid of stains or marks on my clothes. Some dyes on jeans can leave marks on some types of material. You’ll never know what could leak in your suitcase either. Better be safe than sorry.

4. Put your shoes in separate plastic or shoe bags.

Shoes can be dirty and messy as they touch the ground, from bathroom floors to streets where a person or two may have spit. I know, I may be overthinking it, but bottom line is, it would be nice to protect your fresh clothes from touching your shoes. I’m not necessarily a germophobe. I just don’t like my clean clothes to be touching anything dirty.

5. Tightly roll your clothes, don’t fold.

This will allow you to save some space in your luggage – making room for more stuff.

And there you have it! Those are my packing tips for you. I hope you’ll find them useful. And if you have any packing or traveling tips you want to share, we’d love to hear from you! Please comment. Also, don’t forget to share these to your friends who may be needing some new tips for their next getaway or adventure.
