Destination Den Haag: Stately Goes Beachly
Scheveningen is a fun, famous seaside resort in Holland.
When you think of summer, one of the first things that come to mind is going to the beach – The Bahamas, Malibu, Bermuda, and the list goes on. Been there, done that. Not to mention that I grew up on a tropical island, where I have seen beaches with sugary white sand, brown, red, and even gray.
But this spring and summer, I checked out Den Haag, or The Hague.
Den Haag is a bit underrated. And there’s much more to this city than meets the eye. Even their main train station, Den Haag Central is a lovely example of post-modern architecture. The entire building is laid out in glass supporting the roof with a lattice-shaped layer. The oldest shopping mall in the Netherlands called The Passage is a beautiful mall. And sure, The International Court of Justice is here, the States General and the Executive brand are situated here as well.
But The Hague is the only major city in the Netherlands that lies directly on the sea. What makes it all interesting is the contrast of it all – this beautiful stately city knows how to have fun by the beach. Scheveningen is a fun, famous seaside resort in Holland. It’s beautiful and a very clean beach and the overall vibe makes it a perfect spot for leisurely walking and a great place to soak in the sun without being on an island.
The pier offers endless opportunities for eating and drinking – cafes, resto-bars and lounges along the beach. There’s also a giant Ferris wheel and a long zip-wire and bungee jumping for the brave and more adventurous ones. And they have the best fried fish EVER, called the Kibbeling – it’s a must-try.
Scheveningen offers eventful atmosphere by the beach – fun, convenient and the kind of place where you just want to take it easy.
I was only there for a few days. And it was a very fun spring and summer visit. I am pretty sure they have a lot of attractions going on in the summer. You could check them out here.

Known as Europe’s largest port city, with rich maritime history, Rotterdam is a contrast to that old-world Europe with its innovative and futuristic architecture.
Vienna, the capital city of Austria, is a beautiful masterpiece. I couldn’t help but be amazed by the baroque streetscapes and imperial palaces and soul-stirring orchestral music.

The medieval streets, the baroque style churches, historical bridges, the mesmerizing Gothic grace and Renaissance architecture seems to be competing left and right as you explore the city.
Hamburg is one of my favorite cities on Earth. It is a city full of different characters. It has the port city vibe along with the maritime history, a musical city, innovative architecture mixed with the classics, the lakes and river banks, the shopping scene, the churches, etc.
I stopped by The Chocolate Line in Antwerp – considered as one of the best chocolate shops in Europe.

Rome is always full of tourists. To get the most out of your visit, I've compiled a list of tips to keep in mind – all of which are based on my experience.
There are hundreds of packing tips written by travelers online, and I’m sure you’ve read most and found them useful. In this post, however, I will share some of my own travel packing tips that I thought others may not have tried yet.
Having been able to travel overseas over the years, it’s safe to say I have learned some lessons along the way. And if you’re like me, who is always connected to the digital space – whether that’s reading e-mails or texting with friends, you surely wouldn’t want to feel disconnected to the world.
Jet lag can hit anyone, it doesn’t matter if you’re just traveling domestic or overseas – it is no fun. I have to say though, those longer overseas flights can give the worst jet lag – from headache, insomnia, irritability, having flu-like symptoms or just overall tired.
